Hello fellow KLR'erz!

I'm a new member and found this site to be pretty informative. I live and ride in Arizona. I have a 2000 model KLR 650. It's my daily runner back and forth to work. I'm taking it on a fairly long trip up into Zion down to Vegas and Laughlin and Lake Havasu. I'm wondering if any of you know of a backrest that works well for the KLR? I've mentally designed a few, but figured there must be one out there for sale. Any suggestions? Another thing I'm desiring is a good headset for my helmet that I can plug into my phone and or two way radio. Any suggestions on that? What other items would you recommend for creature comforts?

Thanks for all your help,

Trevor

Here are some pictures of backrests I've run across online. I'll try to find the link for the first style shown, I happened on it but I didn't bookmark the website. If anyone else knows, please post. The second style was one I saw on a KLR for sale on ebay.

Not a problem. I ran across them looking for parts and stuff so I just copied off the images incase I wanted to make one. My girlfriend rides with me sometimes & I thought with one of those I don't have to worry about her falling off. That last part is just a joke but it would be a little bit more comfortable for her with minimal effort.

I have considered a backrest for my '08 for a couple of weeks now. I've been thinking about getting a tail box with a built it backrest and mounting it to the front of the cargo rack, extending over the seat a bit. I'd have to be sure I could get my saddle bags under it (maybe use spacers) and I'd have to be able to get it off without too much trouble to get at the battery etc. BUT, it would give me a backrest, storage and hopefully leave a bit of the rack open at the back for tent, fishing rod holder etc. Looking for a good deal now, will post pics if I find one I like.
