Spot/ marker lights
I have a 2009 red KLR to which I've added the higher screen; bark busters; crash bars; center stand; GIVI top box; and 45 ltr GIVI panniers.
Following a survey which I read regarding the need to be seen, I have attempted to run spot lights (fixed to a lower attachment) on the crash bars. While they stayed on, they had the desired effect. Other motorists definitely saw me coming, and resisted the urge to cut across my path.
The problem is that the only spots that I've found in South Africa so far, small enough, are cheap Chinese junk, and they take just a few weeks to fall off, due to the vibration generated by this bike.
I've tried using indicator lights with clear lenses (unfortunately also Chinese) which last about 10 kms.
I am not necessarily trying to see better at night; but rather to be seen. So quartz halogen is not absolutely necessary.
Does anyone have a better idea, or am I "farting against thunder" with this?
