Riding 2 people ??

Hello all, Sorry I havent posted for about a year now. But I have a 2000 KLR 650 with 20,000mi. on it and it runs great!! But anyway my question is. I was thinking about riding a second person on my bike with me. Well I am a 6'2" 260lb. guy. The bikes suspension in the rear sits pretty low with just me on it. Which it seems pretty normal by looking at some of the other KLR's out there.

Well I was thinking of taking my g.friend up to this aweosome lookout point way up in the mountains near me that you can only get to by bike. My question is if I hulled a 130lb. person on the back with me would I be killing that bike?? And would it help if I adjusted the rear shock up a couple of #'s (currently set at #1 I think) too keep the fender from going so close to the rear tire cause of the load?? I have been wanting to take someone for a ride on it for a long time now but I have been worrying about this and I dont wanna ruin my bike!! I think it said in the manual that there is a weight limit for the bike. Does anyone out there ride anyone on back of their KLR's every once in awile??

Thanks I have only posted a few times on here but you people have always helped me out.. Great site!!

At your weight, you should be on around #3 to begin with.. And the adjustment on the shock is for preload.. Adding another person is the exact reason to increase preload resistance..

First, take the shock up to #3 and go ride the bike solo.. I think you'll find the bike's manners much better.. If taking another person, I'd take it up to #4, and with 2 people and loaded luggage, #5..

I ordered the raising links from Eagle Mike. Made a huge difference. I am 6 2 and around 215. Now I can have my feet flat but still have seat at inseem while standing. Also gives it a more agressive look. Hols me and my wife with little adjustment to the shock. They we're only like 69 bux too.

You got red on you.
