Evan From KY

My names Evan I'm 22; around 5'8 and weigh 155 pounds. I got a 2012 KLR 650 Bought it 3 months ago, and had a lowering kit installed (dog bones I think is what he replaced) I've rode dirt bikes alot when I was little but I manage to ride it just fine. I was wanting to know is there anyway I can get a taller windshield cause When I'm doing 70mph on interstate it just flat out sucks. So I've been reading a little bit and was curious as to what I could do to help out with the windshere. I have around 400 miles on it and I only joy ride it every so often to various places. But in the near Future after my break in service at 600 miles from the dealership I want to ride it home to GA which is 302 miles and a 4 hour drive in my 4Runner. I tried to post a picture but this Fourms rules wont let me. anyways It's the Solid black one.

I use a Double bubble. It is just tall enough for me and how I ride. (sport bike stance on the interstate.) I'm 6'1, but there are a lot of other ones out there and it really seems to be a niche to each person. There is another thread on here that talks about a lot of different ones that may help with you research. As for the mine it adds about 2inches in height and about 4-5 degrees more vert vs the stock windscreen FYI. I would recommend doing a lot of research before you buy.

Use the search term "which windshield" and it should be the 14th or 15th result down. Sorry would post a link, but can't from my iPhone. There is a discussion about windscreens there. The double bubble is made by zero gravity, just FYI.

I tried a larger screen (madstad) on my 08 until i realized that i needed smaller. I ended up buying a shortened stock screen from another member and now i get clean, unbaffled air. You might take off your screen and ride it for a bit, just to make sure that you dont like it better. Its a cheap enough experiment, and it worked for me.
Btw, i just moved to Henderson, KY. Which part are you from?

Well earlier when I was riding I lowered my upper body to almost the same height or below the stock windshield and then BAM almost no wind sheer and head bobbling so I think I need a taller windshield. But I can remove it tomrrow. It won't hurt to try anything new. I live at Fort Knox, Hardin County area.

Looks like youre 2+ hours from my area.
I tried ducking, as well, but it threw me out of my regular stance so much that i gave up using that as a way to judge.
Either way, good luck!

I live in Radclif, I live on Fort Knox. Also I got the new Windshield in and I love it. I don't like the fact that the whole thing is clear and u can see the wires behind the shield but nothing a can of gloss black wont fix haha. Also the Windsher is like 90% gone, I can barely tilt my head then i have none whatsoever. I have a motorcross helment I use at the moment. But when I ride my bike for the 600 miles brake in service I'm going to purchase me a new one!!
