New from Rochester NY

Just picked up my Fathers Day present to myself. A 2012 KLR560 (Black). Put about 150 miles on it so far and I love it. I have had a bunch of bikes in the last 25 years or so but this is the most fun I have had. Looking forward to reading all about it.

Welcome to the forum Mrandy! You picked the correct color... Everyone knows that black KLR's are the fastest, never let you down and can figure out quantum physics.

Welcome to the site...lots here just. Use the search tool....And don't listen to Sardog1...he may have great insights to the KLR but he is mistaken one one point...blue ones are the fastest...deals more with the speed at which light bends...first colour is blue...

Also guard your wallet, the farkles will empty it quickly...

Ride safe....

Oh, please... Everyone knows black is best! Besides, what phenomenon absorbs light of any color? Is it a "blue hole"? Of course not... It's a "BLACK HOLE"!!!

Actually, a friend has a red KLR which is what I originally wanted but the dealer only had black. Blue is sharp too. They all look about the same when used for their intended purpose. They all look better with a coat of dirt!

Welcome to the zoo!

My brudder in law, Kelvin on this site is
in Walworth and we've ridden the Fingers a coupla loops.
Great area and people!

Kinda funny on the black '12.
I got the black '09 then stripped the decals,
gloss blacked the forks, swingarm, and engine.
The handlebars were done in satin black, handlebar clamps,
both calipers, (then polished the rotors lol) and did a few
bits in flat black too. Three blacks, then a few silver pieces and all
the bolt heads to give it some contrast.

I figger somebody at Kawasaki saw my bike and now
they offer the batcycle to everyone.

Curious to see how well the black rims hold up to tire changes.
I left my rims silver (and scratched) but they clean up nicely.

The blacker it is, the faster it is.
(some weird Newtonian/ Einsteinian warp thingie theory)
It could happen..........

Have fun, ride much, post many messages,
Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeap

This is my son, with whom I am well pleased." ----God

I don't know if black KLR's are the fastest, but they do have advantages:

A black gas tank that's full on a hot day will provide instantaneous proof that your gas tank vent line is functioning properly. Set a glass if iced tea under it. You'll be able to taste the gasoline or see it as an iridescent "slick" on top of the tea.

Black gas tanks are also much more efficient at burning the inner thigh if you hop on wearing shorts for a quick test run around the block after doing some maintenance outside on a hot, sunny day.

A black gas tank shows scratches much better from trying to swing your leg over it and subsequently constantly dragging your boot heel over it when you try to mount a KLR with a tail bag while wearing layers of bulky safety gear.

Garish stickers expounding on your riding philosophy and destinations you've reached stand out much better against a black background.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new ride!

Welcome Mrandy!
Similar to a blackhole, a black KLR will suck the money out of your wallet.... only quicker!!
