New guy

Hey all!

Just bought my new 2012 KLR and I'm loving it. I'm new to the KLR but I have been on motorcycles all of my life. I already put over 1000 miles since last week, serviced it, did the 22 mod and exhaust mod, went off-roading at every dirt road I passed, and I'm having a blast with this thing.
If there's any KLR enthusiasts in the Atlanta area, let me know. I'm always up for some extreme off road!

Hi CDR!

I didn't realize just how good of a motorcycle my KLR is until today when I drove my Dad's 1978 Yamaha dt 250. It wobbled forward and backward, not side to side. Throttle response was about 2 seconds. I stalled twice before I realized the throttle response was that bad. Then there was the transmission...I got about 5 mph out of each gear before I had to swap to the next one. Front brake was terrible. Pulsing and very little braking power. Seat was slippery and I slid about 6 inches forward under hard breaking. Basically it was kind of terrifying riding ~50 mph.

Lesson learned: The KLR is a nice bike.

Enjoy.
