kinda noob-ish

Hi all.
I am another returner. Had a KZ 400 as a young man in Ohio. Waited 20-odd years and bought a crazy old scooter in NYC (a C70). Two years later (a month ago!), after alot of research and hand-wringing, I purchased an 05' KLR and have been having a ball. It seems like the perfect city bike and, while I'm not much of a hooligan anymore (two kids, married 10 years this weekend), I can still fool a few people with the (PO supplied) Jardine exhaust. (Saving lives with every ride!:wink

I'm grateful for the bank of information that you riders have created here and elsewhere. The wealth of knowledge available here and at .net and Advrider, to name just a few is amazing. I'm not an idiot (says me, my wife may disagree), but I'm not an experienced MC mechanic and you folks have already helped me immeasurably. I'll be asking more questions in the future, I'm sure.

My KLR came with HT nerf bars, acerbis hand guards, jardin slip on and not much else. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a NYC area tech day to get a little help with the doo.

Thanks

Frank

Welcome to the forum Ohio.

If you use the instructions from Marknet, and left coast KLRs you will have no problems doing the doo. Although it is nice to have someone looking over your shoulder when doing it the first time.

others in Ohio

Hi Ohio,

I've had my KLR for two years now and am really finding out alot. Both about the bike and my abilities. I'm out west of Columbus. There a a few of us in Ohio and every once in a while a good ride come along and we get together. One such ride is coming up on the 22nd near Lancaster. There are details in Central in ADV under the COCR ride#2. Hope to see you on a ride sometime.

Luke

Luke, one of these days I'll be back in Ohio. I still miss it, hence the moniker, but I've lived in New York City for the last 20 years or so. My mom is still in Youngstown and I've got loads of C'lumbus friends from college so I get back pretty regularly. One of these days I'll go back to stay. There is a great Ohio riders thread on Advrider that I've enjoyed reading. I love the city but those folks get me a little homesick.

Thanks for the welcome

Frank

Should have viewed your profile first. Yeah I live in NY state for four years, never made it into the city much, too many people. LOL I like the Adirondacks and Southern Teir better. I bet the thread your refering to is ADV in OHIO? I'm in there every once in a while. Best of luck in NYC and keep us up to date on rides you do near either the Adirondacks or Elmira areas.

That's the thread.

I also spend a lot of time in North Jersey. Some beautiful roads/trails there as well.
