Hi from Newcastle NSW

G'day everyone, just a quick intro. 42, married, two kids and a 2012 KLR650. Note necessarily in that order. Keen to be an active member and learn from like minded. Aaron

Welcome. Just replied to a post by rocka with an Australian 2013 KLR. Does / did your '12 come with some kind of restriction in the carburetor?

Gray-haired riders donít get that way from pure luck.

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes mine had a restriction in the carbie to prevent it reving over 5500. I believe it is to enable the bike to be learner legal in Aussie states.

Ah, right. I'd heard that was the reason and forgot. As much as I dislike the government interfering in my personal choices, "learner legal" would not be such a bad idea here.

So often it is that a new (young) rider chooses a bike that is far beyond their capability and suffers the consequences. Older folks too that "used to ride" when they were much younger go out and get an 800 pound behemoth and get in trouble just a quickly.

Gray-haired riders donít get that way from pure luck.
