Question SF Area roadie looking for dirt

Hi Folks;

Glad to join your group..

I want to explore the cool dirt roads we have in the west.

The BLM lands are my favorite haunt going 4x4, but going KLR will give me even more freedom. And my wife and I love to day hike from our campsites.

Anyone know of a dual sport set-up that will give us a saddle heigth of 28-29inches? I know we can't push a KLR down that low.

You can drop the KLR 3 ", but you give up a lot of travel on the suspension, and lower the seat padding for aditional 1". There is always the DR200, the Xt 225, and possibly the KLR250, (KLX250 now).

Thanks DJ...

We are going to check out the XT225 tomorrow and the tw200 as well. It does suck being five feet tall and having a hugh appetite for adventure but there is no way my wife is going to get left behind.

Thanks for the welcome.....my old Sabre group forum went belly up so I miss the insanity (and wisdom). Maybe I'll find it here..

GL on the yammys. Yea being verticaly challanged doesn't fit to well with dual sport bikes. Some of the 250's are taller than the 650's, and Suzuki is the only one that I know of that still makes something inbetween, the dr400, and it is actually taller than the dr650.
My sister-inlaw is also vertically challanged so she went with a honda rebel. Hard to take that off road.
Maybe we can meet up for a ride when we get out there on the left coast this summer.

DJ

We bought an XT225 today. And for $60 we are getting the saddle shaved down an inch and contoured to my wifes back porch.

We now have two cruisers and two dual sports in our one car garage. And two bad assed grins on our faces. Life is sweet when your honey bee is a motohead.

Love to see ya in California. Just be prepared to rob a bank first if you're going to buy a house here.
