Old bike, older owner, new poster!

Hey there,
I was just looking for some DIY info on adding spacers to my 05 KLR and was directed here. Don't know what took me so long!
I have had my KLR for almost 8 years now and it has been with me to Alaska, Washington State and then 4 years in Australia (the other WA) before coming back to Canada. My kids think I like it more than them....some days they may be correct!
I have been a rider since the late 70's and owned many different bikes from all sorts of manufacturers and genres, but the KLR has proven to be the best fit for my lifestyle and I couldn't imagine selling it.
I am looking forward to updating a few things and will no doubt lean on members of this forum for advice.
It seems KLR folk like the DIY stuff too!!

Cheers Matt (Canamatt)

Hello and welcome to the forum Canamatt!

We're glad to have you and it sounds like you have tons of experience under your belt! With all that traveling, I'm betting you have some awesome stories. Please post pics of your ride once you get 15 posts in (anti spam feature of the forum, pain in the butt but it works!). Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome! I am looking forward to spending time with my old KLR and find that a forum such as this, is great for some practical advice on repairs, mods or just places to travel!
Smithers is actually between right between the Prince's (George and Rupert) on Hwy 16. We are on the gateway to Alaska if you are intending on travelling up Hwy37. (A lot of people who travel the Alaska Hwy via 97, use 37 to come back. Hwy 97 is your route to Ft Nelson, Liard and Simpson areas.
Are you heading up that way?
