Talking Sayin Hey From Georgia

I got my Green 08' KLR a few weeks ago for $4,500 with 70 miles already on the tack. Now I have around 500. I have been surfing through this forum soaking up info like you wouldn't belive! lol this is a great site. I have been slowly makeing the first purchases for my needs. My plans for buying modds are in order... 1st Safety... 2nd Utility... and later on down the road... 3rd performance. hehe OMG I keep day-dreaming about what adventures I am going to have on this bike! This is such a fun bike to ride too. As this is my first street-legal bike ever... I bought a good helmet, jacket, boots, and rear bag for my bike. Next week I will be getting some good pants and sidebags... and hopefully ordering the LED tailight upgrade... if I can find it again. I plan on rideing through winter ...and at highway speeds in the cold too. Can't wait to have a few discussions with you guys from time to time. jk lol ttyl...

I have Dualstar's LED tail light and IT'S WONDERFUL!!! Very bright, and always grabs attention.. As luck would have it, I bought it used from a guy that parted all the farkles off his bike before he sold it, so I got a deal and didn't have to deal with Dualstar...

When I ordered my Travelcade seat from them, it was a snap.. Wonder why they're like this now??

Saying Hi from Georgia

Sounds like your about to take on the world, have fun!!!

Just to note, for cold weather riding, a electric vest is a must, just make sure you get a thermostatic control, as they do get pretty warm. Trust me on this one, I have had a vest for more than 10 years and it makes a huge difference on long trips. (I try to make the best out of the shorter riding season in Canada)

Thanks for the info everyone! What is a few good different types of heated vest and gloves? I will keep my eyes open. I just don't think that I will need anything heated unless it raines... or gets below 30 F.

Paper.... is that seat that you are using very comfy? Do you think they are better or worse than the corbin?

jetmech.... ok I went and got a new battery for my camera. I posed for a few pics and had to re-size them... here ya go guys. Oh, I am from Blairsville, GA. I am living in Savannah, GA till mid. Dec 07'; which is when I will be moving to Elizabeth City, NC till next May 08'; which is when I will be done with my training and.... on towards another place (I don't know where) to live for 3 years until my contract is up!

OK I cant get the images to attach! I shrunk the pics but since they are jpeg's I guess I'll have to shrink them so small that you can't see them. lol I'll try again later... actually here is a link! http://klrworld.com/forums/index.php?topic=5350.0 I hope it works.

I've had 4 Corbin seats over the years and have never found them comfortable, but they were better than the BMW seat they replaced.

Because of my absolute disgust with Corbin's products and past customer service, I won't own another.. I have a friend with a Corbin flat on his KLR, and it's a brick. He usually tosses a sheep skin on it to make it better. If I were going to spend that kind of money, I'd spend a bit more and have Russell or somebody make a very comfortable seat..

The Travelcade is very comfortable and was only a touch over $100. My only fault with it is that it's not waterproof, but it does dry quickly. With a Travelcade seat and a sheepskin, I'd gladly ride it anywhere in absolute comfort.

My first ride for more than 1/2 hour had me searching for an aftermarket seat. I decided to go cheap with the Travelcade, knowing I could always sell it if it didn't work for me.. Well, it's still on my KLR, and even though I could afford a Russell, I haven't found a reason to order one.. My KLR is ridden more miles every year than my Gold Wing, too..

Heated Vests

Hey, Great08

You can pickup heated vests at most bike shops and if you want to go a little further, check out some of the heated inner jackets. I believe "aerostich" has some on sale.

Never tried heated gloves, however you can heated grips, they are common on most snowmobiles.

Good Riding
