Hello Everybody

I have just received a KLR 650 (not sure what year yet). I was my brother's bike who sadly passed away in May and my other brother just had the engine rebuilt (it was siezed) and he gave it to me. I'm 48 but raced motocross for many years and built many bikes so yesterday I got it and took it out for a spin across the field. I'm not familiar with this engine type and it sounded a bit out of tune but I don't know yet.

As soon as I get it titled and tagged I'll take it to the shop and see what they think. I'll start reading all the forums and learning about the bike so I know how to treat it and what to expect. I have a lot of accessories / manuals and tools so that should help.

If you know any off road places to ride around Charleston, SC I'd love to know.

If you have any break in advice I'm all open to that too of course. Thanks for a cool place to hang out!

coachz,
Sorry to hear about your brothers passing. Having his old KLR should make it that much more enjoyable, atleast it would for me.

Welcome to the forum and have fun with your KLR.

Thanks,
Todd

I already got a bruise on my foot just where the shifter hits. That shifter is tough or I'm a wimp or both. I guess I can't just wear tennis shoes to drive it.

I highly recommend good quality boots that can help protect your ankles and feet from an unhappy meeting with tarmac, should it happen. Also sticks and stones hurt pretty bad too if they get flipped up in a turn while off road. I bought some cheap knee and shin guard combo's at the dealer to help with this. Thanks, I'll get me some good boots. I also just ordered the Clymer manual and I have a Kawasaki Supplement too so that hopefully will be enough.

Thanks
