2nd KLR

Just 2 days ago I went too MotoAdventure to look at the new KLR.
I ended up riding away with a white one. This is my second KLR my first was highly modified by a former owner. I ended up trading that bike in as it had a top speed of 75 mph. I got a Triumph Tiger 800XC and then A BMW R1200GSW. The Triumph and the BMW were good bikes but not what I needed in the garage.
While I will be adding a few items too this bike they will be for safety. This is going to be used as a fun short day trip bike. I have the BMW Exclusive for long distances and the Harley is my work bike.

Welcome to the group. I have been looking at the triumph tiger 1200 XC (no hate mail please) but I do not have the skill to fix it myself if something gets broken in the back country, and not to mention the extra size and weight on the trails. The KLR is perfect for simplicity to fix and easy to handle.

I have gone back to the KLR because of the weight and lack of expensive technology.
I very much liked the Triumph Tiger 800XC but it has a very weak front suspension. At the time that I owned the Triumph no suspension upgrades were available.
I did not think about getting a Tiger 1200 because it is top heavy. The BMW R1200GSW is a great bike but unless you are taking it off road regularly there is too much throttle.
The KLR with its lighter weight and slower throttle response fits my off road skills better.

Since you have the same bike as me, I'd be interested in seeing a few pictures of how yours is turning out. Also, did you do any carburetor mods along with the exhaust?
