hello all from Iowa

I bought a used 06 KiLleR green in December in the middle of a blizzard. I think I did ok. It has only 926 miles on it. Highway pegs added and the previous owner got Texas Chainsaw Massacre with an eletric knife on the seat. So now it has this nasty double deck look to it. With the cover on you can still see the knife marks. I have a new gel pad and cover comming from TPI. I hope I will like it. Anyone have any experience?

It got up to 42 degrees today so I got spring fever and took it out for a ride. I put on 45 miles. It got a little cold after 20 miles. What a blast.
I might need to invest in a snowmobile helmet if I keep it up. My face got a little cold.

Later,

The seat TPI is selling is a Travelcade Gel seat. I've had one on my bike for a few years and found it WAY better than stock (for me).. As they show on the site, it's very easy to install, since you use your own seat pan.. Just get some 3/8" staples and the best staple gun you can find, since you're running staples into fairly hard plastic.
I find mine comfortable, and even better with the addition of a sheep skin. I've done several 300-500 mile days on mine in comfort.

Oh, and if you're gonna get a snowmobile helmet, I strongly suggest a HJC. I just picked up one last week and went out snowmobiling in 12 degree weather for hours, and it never fogged up once. I didn't buy mine from Motorcyclecloseouts.com, but I should have, as it would have saved me $15 over what I paid.. Anyway, here's a link for them..

Hey Paper,

I got the gel seat cover and installed it. It's really stiff. Do they loosen up a little with time? I am not sure I am likeing it. It seems shorter than a stock seat is that right?

Thanks for the help.

The foam will break in some.. It's about 1/4 as hard as a Corbin seat, so consider it soft..

The big test is riding it..

I can't imagine riding something harder. I should have bought an 08 seat for it.
That will be my next step if my checks don't find happiness. I better buy a tube of preperation H in the mean time.

Thanks
