Wait, I'm not the only first time old guy?

Turn 60 in just over 14 months. Waited 40 years to get a motorcycle and will finally do so in the next 12 months. KLR will be that bike. In the mean time reading and watching and learning all I can...and getting back in shape...of sorts...

If you love your KLR as much as the people here do you will be VERY happy with your first bike. Just out of curiosity, why did you wait so long?

In my 20s thru mid 30s I did a lot of living paycheck to paycheck. Once I was able to swing a bike in my 40s I was married to a woman who truly believed I would die.. which is when I got the boat. Now I no longer have that wife but still have the boat and need to sell it first! I waited this long.. . Can wait a little longer.. . . :grimacing:

Scratchbabble,
Well, at least she didn't buy a Million Dollar Insurance Policy on YOU, and tell you to go buy a bike!

Seriously, Take a "Motorcycle SAFETY Foundation" Rider Training Course and practice, practice, practice!

If you have a bicycle, practice the "counter-steering" by riding 'hands-free' and just touching the handle bars with your INDEX Fingers! A hands-free bicycle ride is the best way I know of to TEACH this effect!

On the motorcycle, think of it as 'pushing the handlebar DOWN', into the Corner!

Modify at "YOUR OWN RISK"!

Still riding my 1987 KL650-A1. 85,000+ miles & counting

I have a dim memory of when I turned 60 - 17 years ago.
