G,day from Australia

Just put a deposit down on '08 klr. (Haven't told wife yet!) Haven't ridden for a long time, last bike was a Honda 400/4 and before that a CB200 and before that an SS50 (That will give my age away).

Am planning some longish rides to rock climbing destinations from Sydney so will be loaded up with a fair bit of gear. It says in the specs that the rack will only take 22 pounds. Seems a bit light? Any advice on luggage carrying optios? (Hard or soft panniers etc).

What speed does she cruise at comfortably?

Thanks

Wiggy

Welcome aboard Wiggy... Good to hear you have an 08 on the way. I think you'll find the KLR will carry way more than the advertised 22 pounds. Pelican cases work great on the rear rack and as panniers. I have a JCWhitney trunk, "cheap Givi knockoff", and a pair of Pelican 1430 side cases and carry everything under the sun in them. My 07 likes 70 MPH indicated which is about 65 per my GPS. Not sure what that will equate too in KPH. Hope this helps some.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

G'day Wiggy,
I too am new to this forum with an '08 I bought myself for christmas last year.
Make sure you de-restrict your bike or have the dealer do it before you pick it up as here in Oz they power them down to make them "learner leagal" with power-weight.
I'm running gearsack soft panniers on mine & bought a set of luggage racks off fleabay to protect bike & plactics when fitted. Mine comfortably cruises at around 110kmh
