New here & new to Kawasaki as well.
Picked up an 08 KLR 650 Monday with 1400 miles. I had my dealer keep an eye out for one last week.
He told me they were all gone, but he'd let me know if he came across anything.
He calls me a couple days later & says, you won't believe this, but a guy came in about an hour ago with a red KLR, says I can't afford the payments on this bike, can you sell it? He says I think so.
The bike was sold new by my dealer at the end of May.
I trade for the bike & make the 60 mile ride home. I roll the throttle up to 80 and it starts to surge, then cuts out pretty bad, I back off and it comes out of it.
I'm cruising along about 65 and it starts doing it again. I back off a little, it's smooths out again. I stay out of it and it does fine the rest of the way home.
When I got home I pulled the bowl off the carb and see nothing. Put it back together and take it out and really stand on it, OH BOY, SHOULDN'T have done that
, didn't think I was gonna make it back!!!
Pulled it apart again & removed the jets, what do ya know, crap in the main jet!!!!!
Also removed the tank & checked the wires, all looks good from what I can tell.
Will be changing the balancer chain tensioner this winter if it lasts that long.
I think I'm really gonna like this bike
