Howdy all!

Greetings all,

I haven't purchased a KLR yet, but I am doing some research, and trying to convince my SO that we need a more practical vehicle to add to the stable.

I currently am looking for a bike to complement my '93 900SS/CR. For me the Duc fulfills the criteria of pretty, fast, and loud!

I like the idea of the dependable KLR as they cheaper to run, do a bit of light touring on, have my SO on the back every now and then.

I am looking for a Buyers Guide overview on this site if anyone has good recommendations, else will use the search function and trawl the forums.

Anyway hope to be hanging around here a bit more soon.

Welcome to the best KLR site there is.

KLR's are wonderful in general. You'll notice that there isn't much complaining about
the bike, and most or all of us just love these scooters!

They aren't passenger-friendly on long rides as the seat is flat and hard-ish.
My wife sits comfortably but can only handle a half hour or so at a time.
Perfect for a ride taking her out to dinner n' such, but it's design is such for us
to ride solo on or off road and be able to shift our weight all over the place.
Notice that the street bikes have shaped seats for one position for each person
on board.

If you want a reliable and fun bike that's Cheap to own, this is the last motorcycle
you'll ever need. Does some killer wheelies, too. LOL

Welcome to the Forum. Any particular year KLR you are looking to buy??

Post a bit of an intro in the Australia section of the forum. You may be able to hook up with some local KLR folk.

My Kaw Barn - 2004 KLR, 2006 Concours (sold), 1997 Bayou 400.

"It's a friggen motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you shit your pants every now and then. "

Hi Klr4evr,

Thanks for the tip I will say "Hi" over in the Aussie forum.

I guess I'm looking at a Post '08 model, happy to take my time and learn about the In's and Out's before jumping in! Better to pay a little more for something with all the add-on bits I want.
