Newb from BC

Hello all,

A newbie here. I just got my 08 and have completed the break in process. I am fortunate with my job that I work a two week on two week off schedule which allows for some nice road trips. I work as an engineer with the BC Ferry system serving the North Coast and the Queen Charlotte Islands up here in BC. I live in the Vancouver area and fly back and forth to Prince Rupert for work. I do plan on using the ferry to travel from the Northern end of Vancouver Island (I do get a staff deal lucky me ) this summer, and maybe motor my way back south a few times. Its a great forum with lots of good advice, thanks for having me in.

You're fortunate to have a great job in a great place. Bald eagles in Prince Rupert are as common as house sparrows here!

How was the Cassiar? and let us now how the Rail goes will you?
I'm in Richmond atm but am moving to Banff so I'll be posting pics of my trip when I get settled in. We depart May 2nd my buddy and I are going him with his Ford F250 me with my '01 KLR.

I heard some skepticism around the Stewart Cassiar pertaining to washouts.?
Living in Whitehorse the locals told me to take the Alaskan. So I did and the mountains in and around Liard Hot springs are fantastic! Elk, Moose, Caribou, Bison, Mountain goat, and Black bear I saw em all. Even raced a young buck Elk down the mountain pass heading north from Frt Nelson upto the Yukon Territory.. Symbolism as I was 21 leaving home for the first time.

See if you can't tackle those logging roads from Nanaimo through to the West coast of the island, they look awesome but I havn't yet had a chance to try them out. Some day.

Curiosity rests on the seat of a KilLeR.
