Hello from Utah. Looking

I'm Tim from Florida, upstate New York, Colorado, and now Utah.

My 2017 KLR 650 is my third bike so far and by far the most fun. I've done a little bit of riding but not enough yet.

I'm actually coming here looking to find someone while I still have time for planning stages. I need a partner for a roadtrip I'm planning, the hitch is it's a cold weather trip. The coldest of weathers. Any guidance on what part of the forum is best for finding a potential riding partner for a 2 month roadtrip north of all borders in winter would be appreciated as I'm honestly a lot a bit scared of doing this trip alone. Also any help on where to go to research tires for extreme cold as I've heard certain rubbers don't perform well in cold temps.

I'll check back here when I can but I'm still figuring out the forum set up so if you have a hard time contacting me or what not just wait and I'll return.

I just returned from my third trip to Alaska. It was a six week ride from the Gulf Coast up to the Arctic Circle. Went over Togwotee Pass in Wyoming at 9,500 feet in the snow. Too cold and not fun. I think I'll head for Mexico later this Month. Warmer there and more fun.

I have to ask why do you want to ride north in winter? Is it just for pain and suffering or do you only work summer jobs?

There is only one crazy Canadian which may be able to help steer you in your quest.
Search 'Brokentooth project'. Or Ice road biker. He is on facebook. They are gonna' or did make a movie.

I've always wanted to camp under the northern lights. Best time I'm told is in winter.

Several test trips are planned this winter to try out riding on studded tires and under heavier load than normal. Also need to know what my MPG is under load with studded tires at slow speed so I know what to carry extra the last stretch.

Thanks for the information pdwestman.
