Smile New old guy, new old bike

Greetings and Salutations!!

I offered to help a friend fix his bike. He said, "Thanks but I just don't have the time. Do you want it? You can have it." We talked for a bit more and he was totally serious. He was pleased that I would get it running and take good care of it. I promised the P.O. that we'd go riding after I got it running. It's a 1985 KLR 600.

It pretty much needs a total refresh. It's got a rusty tank, old tires, dead battery. All the fluids, rubber bits, seals, hoses, chain, sprockets, etc, need replacing. The carb needs to be disassembled and dipped. The exhaust is pretty rusty and the monoshock is probably shot. But all the cosmetics are there and it's got low mileage. I even got the factory shop manual.

Is it OK if me and my old KLR 600 hang out here? I'll just be occasionally obtuse and periodically annoying.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Only way this story could be better is if you "found" it covered in dust in the back of his barn!!!!

Welcome.
