Hi, my name is Mike I am from London England, I have been living in Mexico since 2001 and bought my first KLR 650 Gen 1 1988 last summer, I have ridden the hell out of it and enjoy it daily. Tomorrow I am collecting a 1986 KLR 600, a non runner that I should be able to breathe life into. My question is how different (apart from engine size) is the bike in comparison to the 650?
I am a fairly competent wrencher and would like to find a manual online if you all think it's really needed, I have kept the 650 going tip top once I bought it as a fairly well used and abused bike down here in Mexico last year without the need of a service guide.
I have been riding since I was 6 years old and have ridden everything from a DT50 up to a FJ1200 and everything in between, the only bike I have never ridden is a Harley, although I did ride a few Buells in the UK at one point. Traveled many miles in Europe and plan to start doing Central and South America in the future.
Keep on biking, and enjoy your adventure riding wherever it may take you
