Greetings from Minnesota

Still figuring this site out... I put a pretty good intro over in the "update your profile" thread, I can't post the URL yet. (https://www.klrforum.com/681589-post689.html)

Remember, normal is just the average of the extremes we experience daily in real life, normal doesn't actually exist, thankfully.

I ride a 2010, and it gets a new part or mod every couple months. I'm a late bloomer to motorcycles, but with dirt bikes and mountain biking for 30 years, it's been a quick learning curve.

KLR's are everything I hoped for, I like stable proven tech of all types. I like to say, pick the types of problems you want, first and foremost, when picking a machine of any type. I try to pick tech with short, well-known, DIY lists of problems, that lots of other people in other locations can help with. That is usually not buying something sexy, but it is always supportive of experiences that are solid and rewarding. Just like the KLR.

Finally, a new guy who doesn't start with "I got a really good deal on a 2008..."

Congrats on the '10 and I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

You do need to have 15 posts before you can put up URLs and pictures. It was a necessary evil to combat the porners and spammers. The porners and spammers went away, but the 15 post requirement stayed. Not to worry. If you have a URL you need to post, go ahead and post it. Bodge it up by putting a space in the https:. One of the handsome and highly paid moderators will see it and fix it for you.

Better yet, get 15 posts under your belt and start posting pictures of your bike and your adventures.

You have probably seen DPelletier's guide for new KLR owners, being a reformed lurker, but if you haven't you should check it out.

And trailer the KLR to Moab? Nah.

That's a vote of confidence I'll take on riding thru to Moab. Sometimes I have to trick myself. I'm new to mid life conservatism, and waffle a lot as a result. It's painful to watch, I'm told.

Yeah I've soaked up DPelletier and Paul W and Eagle Mike for about a year now. I'm feeling dangerous, but mitigated.

That best friend of mine? I steered him away from a "good deal" 2008 a year ago thanks to this forum and one on something called Facebook :-) with some more smart fellas ... He ended up with a sweet gen 1.

Looking forward to fun and progress!

FaceBook should be more aptly named FacePalm.

By the by, you can rip off a dozen quick posts here https://www.klrforum.com/forum-news-...s-here-33.html to get your post count up to where you can do URLs and pictures.

Greetings jfederline, good to see a fellow Minnesotan. I’m in the southern metro area and am always looking for new places to ride. Have fun on your KLR, they’re a hoot!
