Greetings from mid Missouri!

Hello all,
New to the site and new as of about 3 months ago to the KLR world, not new to bikes or wrenching though. Been seeing a lot of info from here so thought I’d sign up. Already have about 3000 miles on the 08 I bought and having a ball. A life long friend talked me into buying one, he bought a 2015. Been riding and back roading when both of our schedules coincide and I’ve been getting lost on my own quite a bit.

If you haven't already, check this post out:

Watch the oil level very carefully. I suggest you check it every time you get on the bike or every 200 miles, whichever is sooner.

I’ve been reading you and Paul’s back n forth on the oil mods. As well as other info. I’m going to be a test case for your oil mods on an 08 burner. Seems there’s little post mod feedback to your mods in the reading I’ve done. I bought mine fully aware of the 08 problems and bought it anyway. I sort of bought the bike and got all the mods n farkles free, or Vice bersa, and being a mechanic, working on it doesn’t bother me in the least. The PO already bought the 685 kit from EM. But being a kid with a new toy and it’s riding season, I’m going to see if I can get through the summer as it is. Banjos drilled, oil filter cap plugged and drilled to #44. Just need to start riding it when the rain stops. Already know what it burns more or less for the last 3000 miles, so will see. Per Paul, I’ll start a post on it and have some more info.
Having a lot of fun with it so far! And already appreciate the good info I’ve been gleaning before signing up.
