New from San Diego

Hello everyone....new to the forum and new to the KLR.

I have a 1993 DR650 that I purchased used over 23 years ago. I've put over 117000 miles on it and enjoyed every minute of it. When it came time to purchase a new one I was disappointed that it really didn't feel like the DR I was use to. It is a great bike and a proven platform but different....DRZ400ish in my opinion. After sitting on a KLR it felt right. I purchased a used 2017 with 1500 miles and it's a fabulous bike. I've purchased some accessories for it with the intention of getting it sorted out for what I intend to use it for...... a dual sport touring platform with some 2000 mile + rides in the future.

So for now I'm acclimating myself to it and going to do some general maintenance on it. I'm looking forward to learning from, the group and, sharing.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. 117,000 miles on any bikes is amazing. NO doubt you know what you like and I'm confident that you can make the KLR fit you perfectly. Also I thought I'd let you know that San Diego is one of the "hotspots" in the KLR world. You're lucky that Eagle Mike, probably one of the nicest and most knowledgeable KLR guys you'll ever meet, is actually based in El Cajon and he sells most of the parts needed to maintain and improve the KLR.

Enjoy the ride!

Thank you gentlemen for the warm welcome.

Thank you for telling me about Eagle Mike.... I also live in El Cajon. It's nice to know a wealth of information is in the same neighborhood.
