I'm happy to say I took delivery of a new 18 KLR650 this past weekend. I'm anxious to get to work on some mods and accessory installations. The first thing I have noted is it is a little tall for me as my feet aren't quite flat on the ground. I come from a background of V-twin cruisers setup for long distance traveling. Each summer I take a 2 week trip on my Indian Roadmaster to various parts of the country. Last year we left our home here in Atlanta and rode out to Mt. Ranier and then crossed over the border and went to up to Alberta to visit a couple Canadian national parks and then came back across the border and visited Glacier National & Yellowstone before heading over the Badlands. It was a helluva ride. This year was going to be our tenth anniversary trip but it appears as though ti won't be happening this year as all our points to visit are currently closed. So, to get rid of some of the boredom I bought the KLR and I just love the thing. In the last 5 days I've ridden it roughly 500 miles, about 150 on trails local to me but nothing treacherous. I'm in my 50's now so I don't think I'll be doing anything crazy. I've been watching a lot Youtube videos where some of you guys do some harrowing stuff on these bikes and I envy that for sure but i think I'll try to keep both wheels on the ground. My boys and their friends have these style bikes so my goal will just be to keep up with them. Anyways, excited to be here and I'll try not to ask any stupid questions as I'm sure most of my topics I may have interest in have been covered.
