im thinking about trading my 07 for a 08 bike.jpgmy bike has 14k miles lots of up grades

What do you expect going to the Gen 2 bike? Better road capabilites, yes. Better off-road, no.

If you are looking for a better road bike "comfort" that can still off road why not check out a Dl650 V-strom? IMHO it is what the 08' KLR650 moved towards while remaining a single cylinder engine. That's why I have a 06' KLR and a 07' V-strom dl1000. One for more off road fun and one for road trips with available off road abilities.
