Talking Wanting To Buy a KLR!! ****PURCHASED AN 06*****

Thanks for all the help I am now the proud owner of a 06 with 2k miles!
Thanks to everyone!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am looking at purchasing a KLR. I am currently looking at a 07 with around 6000 miles from a dealership. They are asking 3,999.99. I have looked up the Kelly Blue Book they have it at 3530 and NADA has it at 3115. I obviously want to get a good deal but don't want to insult the dealership. I don't know much about estimating the proper price for this bike.

any advise would be great!

I am also interested in a 99 with 9,200 which I feel they are a bit closer to nada and kbb price. 2,199.99

Anyway I am SO excited to get a bike but want to make the right choice.

$4,000 for a 4 year old KLR is too much in this economy. Do a search and if you are willing to travel, there are still a few dealers out there with left over 09's for $3999 and there are plenty of 10 models out there for not much more. If you can't travel, and the bike meets your needs, offer $2,800 and don't negotiate. He probably only gave the previous owner $2,000 on trade.

Are you in Canada or the US? The bikes are a little pricier in Canada (actually, a lot pricier!) so the $4000 wouldn't be totally out of line in Canada... I would still try to get them down to about $3500 OTD though, and it would have to be absolutely cherry. Take your time and shop around though, you'll get a better idea of prices and be able to make a well informed purchase. Best bikes around though, your going to love it!

Do your research first: KLR has an inherent problem with the doohickey that Kawasaki refuses to fix. Ditto with high rates of oil consumption in many >'07 models.

I am a KLR owner, but you should research carefully before you buy. Suzukis have their problems, too, though.

So went to the dealership to look at this bike (I'm in Nebraska). They had it in back and it was covered in dirt and didn't look like it had been touched in months. I asked them about the price and the guy gave me a story that the previous owner did some work to the front forks and that he must have used a hammer to put it together. So the dealership was told me they were upside down and negative about 500 bucks on the bike. RED FLAG I will Pass! Still Looking for a used KLR Looking to spend around 3000-3800 thanks again.

Since you are in Nebraska, Denver is not a long drive and there are at least two dealers in the Denver area that are still listing 09 KLRs on their web sites. G-Force and Sunset are both listing several left over models. You could give them a call and see what is still in their inventory. On line you can check out Kansas and Oklahoma dealers as well. Just make sure Nebraska will tag out of state vehicles.

Happy hunting, Greg

insult the dealership? they should be worried about insulting you.
They gave the guy they bought it from about half of what they are asking for it.
I'd offer $300 over half and see what they say
