Just looking at the picture stopped my heart for half a minute. Had to stick my finger in a socket to get it going again.

Immediate reaction: "Good god, that's disgusting."

Secondary Reaction: "Where's the goddamn fry daddy!"

If I recall correctly, Tabasco sauce was the only thing permissible to be adding to Chislic.

The "Red Beer" that goes with that Chislic was a major contributor in my being present over in the "long term sobriety thread".

A couple other food secrets of the prairie that if the rest of the world find's out about, your population will boom.......Kuchen [sp?] pie, in part-ic-ular, strawberry rhubarb. The "Hutters" [these Hutters don't wear orange shorts and tight t-shirts] made it with a kind of cheesy custard topping.

The other delicacy I often remember was a minced / ground meat from the butcher shop on main street Freeman. Simply called "Cannibal", I believe it was raw beef and seasonings. You could only get a small amount of it every once in while. Once I tried that stuff, potted meat would never be acceptable as food again.
