Is this really rare? (Craigslist add I ran across)

While looking for tank and/or handle bar bags on craigslist, I found this.
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/mcy/2196914434.html

Is it really rare and if so why? Just curious really.

TrabFTW-

I guess it may be. I don't know how many they made, but they were a 1993-1998 thing. Compared to KLRs, they might be rare. They were kinda cool things.

Is it basically the same as a KLR?

Trab -

I found this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cv_dust...n/photostream/

I wonder if the one you're seeing was converted to street legal.

quote from the Craigslist ad:

'Liquid Cooled, Kick Start Only, No Battery, Has Headlight and Rear Tail/Brake Light'

Might be that is what makes it 'rare' ;^)...

Of course, since it has no turn signals and mirrors it wouldn't be street legal most places. I don't see a license plate on it, though.

There was two versions. The KLX650C was street legal and had electric start. The KLX650R was off-road only and was kick start only.

I was just reading up on those the other day... The one webpage I was reading stated that the KLX650 ran a gear driven counterbalancer vs the KLR650's chain driven one. Not sure if that's correct, but it makes you wonder why they would offer a 650 engine with two types of counterbalancers?
