Hey, hey noobs...
No insult intended. We've all been there. I talk a lot, but am better with a keyboard than a wrench. But I'm learning. Reason I mention this is there are a lot of new people joining and a lot join and have already made some mistakes or paid the stealership too much money when they make their first post.
Look, ask Mark B4. I started out as dumb as they come. And I haven't gotten all that much better. (I do know there is no such thing as a muffler bearing). I have done all the work on my bike with the help of good friends and a good bit of it by myself.
I sometimes think, what if I had gotten an XR or DR. Or something else...something slick and fancy. And I always think...hell, I wouldn't have met all these wonderful people. I feel very strongly about old slipjoint knives. They take a little effort (two hands). They are simple. They are from a simpler time. So is the KLR.
If you are on here, you got one, or you are gonna get one. Get a manual. Make some friends. Take advantage of the (serious) geniuses on here who offer advice for free.
I love my KLR, but the bike is only about %50 of the reason why...
