Strange clutch in brand new 2011 KLR 650
I bought my KLR brand new a couple weeks ago, and am now putting a Rekluse auto clutch in it. When I tore the clutch apart, it only has 7 friction plates and 6 steel drive plates. Every manual and diagram I have seen, including the service departments data, shows 8 friction and 7 steel are required for this bike.
Looking at my clutch pack, there is not room for an additional friction and steel plate, so it was designed that way from the factory. This makes it impossible to convert it to a rekluse clutch.
What did Kawasaki do? Put in a clutch pack from a different model bike and it just happened to work? Anybody else have this problem, and what to do about it?
