What I did today, and a question

Been busy today.

Changed both my tires.
Put them on the balance stand. They were so close that it wasn't worth trying to put weights on them.
Put the heaviest spring from Top Gun on my shock. (automotive coil spring compressors are not really suited to the job. I made it work, but I was as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Set the preload at 4.
Changed oil and filter......has not burned a drop yet at almost 4400 miles. Oil and filter were clean.

Question
Those of you that run the Shenko 244 tire with good results - long tire life, What tire pressure are you running in rear and front? Keep in mind that i am a bit over 300 lbs. I have them both at 28 psi just to see if I lose any air. I have not test driven the bike with the new stuff on it yet.

VaTrader, I think you answered in a PM. If you don't mind repeating yourself, I would appreciate it.

I've been running 32 lbs front and rear with 244's. This is something you will need to experiment with. I started at 28 lbs, and the handling on asphalt seemed like the tires flexed in the curves. I went up and down a few pounds at a time until I hit a pressure that seems to work for me. Shinko recommends 28 lbs air pressure max in the 244. That is only a recommendation. No reports that the Shinko 244 will pop like a bloated Wood Tick at 29 pounds of pressure. I've ran these tires at 35 pounds and a 270 pound load for hundreds of flat, boring miles without issue. I've kept every wore out Shinko 244 I've ran. There's seven of them out there, totaling about 45,000 miles, and every single knob those tires came from the factory with is still there, albeit a bit shorter.

Keep in mind, the air pressure you read when checking your bike tires cold is not the air pressure you will be riding on usually. If you check the tires when they are at 70 degrees at the house cold, they will gain about a pound of air pressure with about every ten degrees of operating temperature they gain. The bike's load will play a big part in that operating temperature. If you started out at 70 degrees cold, reading 30 pounds of air pressure, you might be running a true 34-35 in a few miles. That's why you have to experiment a bit. Too many variables for me to make a call that will work for you, your load, temps, riding style.

That was quite an impressive list of things you did on the bike. Please keep us posted on what you find with that spring from Top Gun. I think quite a few riders would benefit from one. Might be worthy of a product review, and you are pretty good with those.

Also, pics of my mess in mid job

Do tie down every point where things can move.....ask me how I know. I was very stupid, but managed to avoid damage to me or the bike.
