Worth a try?

Greetings,
I have been thinking about purchasing an enduro for what seems like forever. A guy down the street has had a KLR650 cable locked to a tree in his front yard for the five years that I have lived there. Unless he sneaks it out at night, I am sure that it hasn't moved or probably even started?!? Not sure what year it is or how long it sat before I moved to that street. So, I'm asking if you think it's worth asking him if he wants to sell the bike considering how long it has sat untouched, outside, and through Northern Arizona winters (buried in snow and sub-zero temps). Thanks for any advise.
Eric

Hell, I'd offer to mow his yard and take it off his hands. Seriously.

Be prepared to do some work on it. What color are/were the plastic bits?

Carb will need overhaul, may have rust in fuel tank, you'll need new tires, battery, + + + + ....

Offer him $1 to take it away.

Take a couple of pictures.

The panels are green and black. It "looks" clean and not too faded. I'll take some pics in the morning and post. He has four other vehicles that just sit as well, so maybe he'll take a $1 to get it out of his yard??

He is going to you “he is going to get around to riding it”…..

However, If he will part with it… I think you should buy it.

This is what I would offer…. Un-known (meaning you don’t check it out. You just take it) $200

After looking at it. If it terns over and the spark plug sparks….$500

If its in good shape you can always part it out and get your money back.

I knocked on his door last night with no response. Being able to walk closer to the bike on the way to his door, I noticed that the seat wasn't in good shape and some more faded plastic. I'll let you guys know what I find out when I get to talk with the dude. 12 more posts and I can post a picture!

I've seen him walk and he looks around fiftyish. However, he does have parrots in a huge cage on his deck and wears a new england sailors cap, so the black eye patch isn't too far off!!
