Riding in snow.
On the weekends, I work 85 miles from the house. It is a hour and half ride. I have had unexpected snow occur with 3 to 5 inch accumulations. Will a KLR with tires like the Shinko 244 give any traction and or stability. If I could move at 30mph, it would be good.
I've used 244's in the snow, and ice, before. What helps more than anything on any tire is airing it down. I'd give the 244's a pretty high rating as it was gripping the snow and ice as well as my buddy's DR650 with it's knobbies. 30mph? Sure, you could get up to that speed but it's pretty dangerous. The front will try to wash out and there's no bringing back once it's gone too far.
