KLR650 Sprockets needed in Mexico

Is there anyone with connections to get a couple of rear sprockets for the KLR to a couple of travelers in Acapulco, Mexico? The mail service in Mexico is unreliable at best and they are needing these rear sprockets ASAP.

You can contact Martin at: [email protected]

Please pass this on to other KLR message boards and thanks for any help.

Please pass this suggestion on to Martin:

If replacement sprockets remain unavailable, you may coax some more mileage out of the old ones by REVERSING them.

The worn teeth profiles allow more chain traction in the opposite motive force direction, extending usable sprocket life to some extent.

Emergency field expedient? Of course, but a MacGyveresque tactic that may immediately, if temporarily, solve a problem.

Or, maybe Martin doesn't MIND being stranded in Acupulco?

Good idea, I never thought of that

UPS will deliver them to Mexico if you can get the sprockets to their office,no problem. There is a large airport there so no problem.

Valid and relevant information, realdeal43; however . . . the thread's somewhat ancient.

Even Correos Mexicano (Mesican postal system) should have delivered by now.

Yet, Acapulco is not an unpleasant place to wait over the winter for a package of sprockets, I imagine.

I'd like to think the travelers cleverly reversed their worn rear sprockets, for more service life in this emergency situation, and rode away from the sandy beach, swaying to and fro to a Latin beat . . .
