3000 miles roundtrip begins tomorrow

I have 8 days to run from Indianapolis To El Paso. Going to Texas to get my tags for my new/used Klr. Heading out in the morning and hope to spend a few days across the border in Juarez.
The previous owner put on the Pipe, jetted the carbs and changed the aircleaner. This is my third KLR but it feels like it has a little more power than the others. Hope the Seat Pad I bought gives some extra comfort...I am getting old...not as tough as i used to be.

550 miles down the road

I made 550 miles today. I was thinking I would do more but the heat was brutal, not to mention my ass went numb. I am glad I bought the Colman seat pad. It really helped a lot.
Any way tomorrow is another day! Btw I was surprised how easy the bike cruised at 75 mph. Even with my 300lbs plus gear.
What a great bike
Pictures will come when I get off the freeway in new Mexico

Sounds like fun. Those KLR boxes don't look very big, how much gear are you carrying? Are you camping or staying in motels along the way?

Is that a GPS on your left handlebar?

I am staying at hotels. Cheaper the better. The klr saddlebags carry a lot of stuff. The right hand bag has all my tire tools, spare tube and such. The left has drinking water, fruit. I have my bag of clothes strapped across the top. I travel light in the U.S since there is a Walmart every 10 miles.
The thing on my handle bar is a iPhone holder that came with the bike. I took it off before I left.
Time to head out. It's going to be an awesome day. Oklahoma, Texas and new Mexico.
In Santa rosa new Mexico I get off the interstate and take a state hwy south. This is my favorite part of the ride
Take care
