swapping tires

So I had a flat and swapped the tube myself (major pia) and the tube must have got pinched as it was flat again. Repeat process same result. So I took it to a dealer to get it done ($30). Now I want to swap tires for a trip to the UP and put on knobbies which afterwards I will want to swap again which if I take to the dealer the process will be $120 total.

So what I am looking for is a set of rims so I don't have to do tire swaps just switch assemblies. Where can I pick up a set at a reasonable price? Is there a cheap site for new or a good location to find people that part out bikes that I can get a set?

I searched for a long time for decent priced rims. Finally found a pair for $200 including rotors. I found mine on Craigslist.

I was finding them on Ebay for more than that. Sometimes they come up on some of the other KLR forums but they go quick.

I usually see them going for about $200 each and that does not always include the rotor.

You just have to search relentlessly.

Or . . . learn to change tires/tubes yourself.

Skill might come in handy on the UP.

Great videos exist on the Web, if you're interested.

Otherwise, $ 500 a fair price for a pair of wheels, complete.

Are you using heavy duty tubes?
Since my first also pita flat-tire experience I put a HD tube in the rear. Much thicker then the stock tube and it resists pinch flats.

Finding a set of spare wheels for a decent price takes patience. I finally got some for $200 for the pair including rotors, sprocket, speedo drive.
