Realistic Value In Parting Out A KLR

So I'm looking at buying a parts bike. Mine is an '01, there's a non-running '89 that the guy will sell me for $500. The engine is shot. What I really want off of it are the wheels (wheels and tires looks to be in good shape), and maybe some of the plastics, the front plastics that attach to the gas tank in particular. Maybe the header and exhaust as well, if they are in better condition than my the exhaust on my bike.

Unfortunately I've spent my budget purchasing and fixing up my '01 KLR, but I'm sure I can recoup some of the costs in parting out the bike, mostly on ebay. Any ideas as to what I can expect ballpark to get from the rest of the bike?

I'm guessing the rear shock, front shocks, seat, gas tank (hopefully he will have the key), swingarm, etc will get me some of my money back. Any other parts that are in high demand that I can expect to sell?

I've parted out bikes over the years. It takes patience and time. If you have those two things you will get your $500.00. The wheels/tires are almost worth $500.00. Exhaust stuff is in demand. Swing arms are not..it sounds like it would be worth it...

+ 1!

Serviceable head, should be much in demand.

Low-risk acquisition/investment, IMHO.
