I usually only buy fuel from marketers that refine their own products.
I went to the website of each company and looked at the Material Data Safey Sheet (MSDS). These sheets list the ingredients by %.
Fuels containing ethanol were actually called "gasohol" and the ethanol content was the second ingredient behind gasoline.
V-Power was called "gasoline" and no ethanol was listed.
I confirmed my findings with a follow up phone call to Shell customer service that took 2 minutes...(you know... it could be a trick)..."That is correct, sir...V-Power does not contain ethanol. It is a very poplular gasoline with our motorcyle customers."
One of my less-ingenius riding pals says "Oh yes, I did that investigation while out riding my bike the other day, only a little different. At my local Shell station the V-Power pump has a sticker that says "does not contain ethanol." The other pumps have a sticker that says "contains up to 10% ethanol."
By using my clever internet investigation methods instead of dialing 1-800-customer service at the 5 refinery companies in our region, or better yet, looking at the gas pumps, I likely spent 2 hours digging up the information...
