Drive chain adjustment bolt

Just bought an 06 KLR and the left side drive chain adjustment bolt threads are stripped so you can't tighten the two nuts on it. Is the bolt easy to remove/replace? Haven't had time to really look at it and don't have a service manual. Thanks

The bolt is part of the adjuster. Don't think it can be replaced separately.
You would have to pull the rear axle out to remove the adjuster.

Yes you are correct, it is sold as one piece, but the bolt is steel and the lump is alluminium, so that may mean you could possibly turn it out and install a fresh stud......I haven't don't it, but wouldn't rule it out.

drive chain adjustment bolt

Took the axle bolt out, pulled the aluminum piece that the threaded stud is attached to out. Cut the old stripped stud off and welded a new threaded stud in its place- good as new.
