Free Power

Eagle Mike has put up a very interesting and informative post "next door" (in the other forum Willys) describing how he has tested and achieved a power increase simply by advancing the exhaust cam timing one tooth.

I can't do EM's description and explanation justice. I do think the information is worth the read so I'll send you over there to look.

Someone on the Facebook KLR group had posted about that as well, an interesting read!

Damn. Probably not something I'd ever do, but I'd still like to read the post. Can't read it over there unless I log in.

I've been following that thread with a great deal of interest.

I will probably do this but will wait until my next valve adjustment.

My KLR does not need a power increase, but if the opportunity ever presents itself then I'll be game.

I am banned to even open a page over there lol....so can't read it if I wanted to. Funny how he has finally thought about this after me going off the rails about it a while back......He should have paid more attention to his mentor when it was being discussed way back when. The optimal advance from what KLRCary said was 4 degrees, not the full amount of one tooth on the sprocket which is supposed to be 7 degrees. I would tend to listen to someone who made more headway while he was experimenting with our engines....but you can do it if you choose......I'm not risking another engine without knowing for sure if it will be an advantage or disadvantage especially with the amount I have invested in my engine. I have larger cams compared to the stock lift, so that is a serious consideration on my half.

To each their own but I would like to read the report if someone can link me to somewhere other than .net.
Thanks.

He's also working on an EFI kit. It's running, he's fine tuning it.

Mine, neither. I can barely handle the power I've got now. Sometimes it gets me in trouble with my speed. Those 35 mph zones are rough!

I could link you to the facebook thread on it, but it just links back to .net so it wouldn't help you
