Enough!!!

Come on lets get back to the KLR

I'm not suggesting everyone, but if you look at all the threads, the most action lately is about the drama, refugees or Glenns site.

I'm not trying to be offensive, but lets spend our time on us and the bike. With this post I include myself.

Okay who is up for Death Valley in January. I am going with DVD on January 27th, 07. I will meet in Fresno with two other KLR's and ride in!!! you are all invited, I have plenty of camping space at my house.

I would like too join you guys, but I have made my trip to the left coast this year,(June 06) and I'm taking a trip to AZ the last of OCT 06. My next adventure will be to Canada on the KLR, and the weather says it will be next summer sometime, because cold weather and I do not get along.

Looks like you can cross by land without a passport until January 1 of 2008, after that you'll have to have a passport. Here's a link to the State Department's website on it.

I'm thinking July of 07. I wanted to go last month but things didn't work out.

In Jan of 05 I rode the KLR from Ky to Key West FL, riding along the east coast. In June of 06 I rode the KLR from KY to a Julian Tech Day, I got caught up on a oneway street and had to go into Mexico while I was out there. I then rode it to San Deigo, and up the west coast to Santa Barbra.
So I have riden to the east coast, west coast, and Mexico and I see it only proper to ride it into Canada. After that trip the wee-Strom will get the call for the long distance rides.

I know about the pass-ports, on our last cruise we were informed of the change starting in 07. I have to get the wife to work on those.

DaddyJoe, if you decide to come up towards Alberta, there are a whole bunch of KLR folks in the Calgary -> Edmonton corridor. I've also got vacation time next year that I was thinking of taking in July to cruise down into Washington and Oregon, or even East (haven't decided which direction I'm going yet)

Give me a shout if you're going to be in the neighbourhood.

Owen

will do Gunn. I had planned to head that way this year, but various things conspired against me, so I decided on doing my IBA ride instead (see my trip report 'There and Back Again' for details)

I recommend the passport. I got one last year, it's 90 bucks, it's easy to get (although it takes about 6 weeks after you apply), and it's good for 10 years. In this day and age of Homeland Security, it makes good sense to have one. For example, if you change jobs, it's the only document needed for your employer to complete the required I-9 form.

It's not necessary to have one (yet), but it's great to have. Of course, I'm biased because I live near the Canadian border.
