With winter about to take over, it is time to start planning those epic rides for the next riding season. Especially for us flatlanders, Arkansas is a destination that is guaranteed to put a big silly grin on your face. Lots & lots of twisty roads, dips and valleys that will make your innards do the g-force flip-flop, outstanding scenery, good eating, and very few constables to be found in the boonies.
The official state tourism website has several pages devoted to motorcycling.
Go to: http://arkansas.com/
Mouse over the "Outdoors" tab.
Select "Motorcycling" from the dropdown menu.
Ye-haaaa, a state that caters to motorsicklists! Who wouda thunk?
I rode Arkansas this past summer with my sister and brother-in-law and give it a hearty two thumbs up. Unfortunately, I rode my Harley touring bike and was wishing almost every mile of the way that I had taken the KLR. Yes, you can scrape the running boards on a Roadglide, heh-heh  . When you hit the roads south of Eureka Springs, top your tank! There are very few gas stops once the fun begins. I vowed I would go back with a proper hooligan mount, my KLR. The gravel roads running off the tarmac are screaming to be explored. There are no problems finding lodging or camping.
Hope some of you find these links useful. Maybe a KLR convention?
