New 2013 top speed

Hi folks . Have a new 2013 KLR650 Australian. Done 2500km and have rejetted stage 1 - K&N filter - 2 Brothers Exhaust.
Bike will not get to 130kph or get above 5800rpm in top gear.
Dealer indicates that is it. Is he right?
Cheers

Welcome rocka. It's my understanding the Australian KLR's come with restrictor holes in the carburetor slide to satisfy some governmental regulation??? In effect they do not allow for full power. The fix is to remove the slide and plug them.

Look here....
http://klrworld.com/forums/your-next...e-restriction/

Also while the carb is apart do the 22-cent Mod.... http://www.klrforum.com/showthread.php?t=12596

Gray-haired riders donít get that way from pure luck.

+ 1.

On another forum, an Australian KLR owner was advised to visit his local Harley-Davidson shop, purchase a CV40 slide-and-diaphragm assembly, and insert same (as an alternative to plugging and re-drilling his restrictive slide).

The Australian KLR owner did so, and reported the positive, desired results, at considerable savings compared with an imported non-restrictive KLR CVK40 slide.

Hint, hint!

do you have your full license or are you required to have a restricted engine?

i find it weird the dealer wouldn't have explained the restrictions to you, he must have known why the revs were limited...... you hope

Thanks gentleman I am going to block the slide holes today and will let you know how she runs. Spoke to the shop mechanic (nice guy) recommended a small piece of aluminium self adhesive tape to cover them on the inside.
Cheers
