11 days before Happy Trails ships?

So I order some stuff from Happy Trails & I get an email saying it will ship out in 11 days. WTF? Anyone else dealt with this?

What did you order?

I've bought a lot of stuff from them, and as long as its in stock it ships quick. I have had to wait for stuff that was on back order. Give them a call.

There was no mention of the items being on back order. It was Roc straps and skid plate.

I have experienced the same issue with other suppliers. Backorder means the distributor is out of stock or doesn't even normally stock the item even though they show it on their website. They order the item from their supplier when you order it from them. A sure way to identify this type of supplier is they don't show if it is in stock on their website.
I no longer do internet orders because of this. If I see an item on the internet I phone and if the item is not in their stock they don't get my order. I will purchase it from someone willing to stock the item and not these forwarding agents.

If a company doesn't stock the products and just wants to be a forwarding agent they won't get my business. I have to get the items shipped to me anyway, why add time by waiting for a distributor to put an order together, receive it then ship to me. Order direct and the item will most often ship same day.
I purchased both Sargent seats from Sargent. The same for my Ricochet skid plates, including 3 sets for Quads.

Rok Straps? I'm also still waiting for a set of Camo Rock Straps for two weeks now. The Pannier Rack that I ordered came to me in two days. I called them before hand to see if they had the rack in stock and they did.

I called them the other day about my Rok Sraps and they told me they have been trying to get them from Rok for a while. They did have a set of Black that they are sending me so I canceled the Camo.

They probably ran out of the skid plates so they had to have some more of them made. 11 days isn't that bad unless you need them right away. I had to wait almost a month for my skid plate from Dual Star, but it was worth it to me because I prefer their skid plate. They notch it out for the Doo Hickey so you can adjust the Doo without removing the skid plate. DS might not even be in business anymore though because they had a terrible Customer Service history.

Like Jeff said - If I need the stuff in a hurry I call them first. HT are good folks in my opinion and have always done right by me.

I do understand what you are saying Jeff. I have ordered tons of stuff on line. Sometimes I do get a notification at the time of ordering, that an item has been on back order. Calling & asking when placing an order is a great idea. However, I would say 99% of the time I order something it is not during regular business hours. Anyway, I had a nice surprise when I got home this evening! A box from HT with all of my items!

Don't know about the others, but I have given up on Happy Trails. They charge excessive shipping on small items, the designs of their Gen1 guards and highway pegs leaves something to be desired, and the skid plate is weak. I have never received any responses back to questions I have sent them.

I would rank them just above klr650.com on my "do not use" list.

Nice to hear you got your stuff KS!
Everything I do I have to order from out of town. It just gets frustrating when the supplier doesn't even give you the courtesy of letting one know that the order will be delayed due to one item being backordered. Recently on a multi item order two weeks in, I found out the order would be two more weeks waiting for a "filler" item. An item not really needed but purchased because I was making an order anyway. All they needed to do was let me know at the outset and I would have canceled the item for a later time and saved two weeks waiting.
Sorry for the rant! Glad Happy Trails fixed you up. I'll have to remember them next time I am looking for something.
