Road trip...

I'm heading out tomorrow: first long trip on my new KLR!
Riding from Uxbridge, Ontario, to the Catskills in New York.
Google Maps says it's around a 1,300 km round trip.
I'm at about 750 km at the moment. The Manual calls for an oil change at 1,000 km. I'll just change the oil before I head out.
I'm breaking it in pretty much by the book, trying to keep the RPMs below 4000 for just a little while longer.
I'm not anticipating any issues and will report back how things went.

Looking forward to it!

I had a great long weekend. Rode right around 1600 km (1000 miles). The bike’s now fully broken in.
The KLR does not have a ten-hour saddle, at least not for me. It’s fine for a day but not for a real long day.
I may try a different windshield. The stock shield is just fine in town, something larger might work better at highway speeds. I just don’t want to make things worse.
I changed the oil before heading out. 2 litres leaves the oil level right at the top of the window where it stayed all weekend.
A couple of pals helped me to measure the sag: I need to build a 43 mm spacer in front. The rear’s close fully jacked up.
I’m going to try a 16 tooth countershaft sprocket. Slowly sneaking up on things.

I love this bike!

I put Sargent seats on both my KLRs and have been very happy. I added a LaminarLip to my '11 and found it works very well too. Redirects the air up over you.
If you live in Ontario or Canada for that matter, Check out AVisciousCycle for the LaminarLip. The seats I got direct from Sargent.

A Vicious Cycle rocks. I ordered my SW Motec crash bars from them. Delivered the next day, but I'm lots closer than Lac La Biche.
Ordered the sprocket yesterday.

Yeah I have spent thousands there kitting out two bikes! Only a couple of minor issues, quickly corrected. I met Eric at the Edmonton bike show, nice guy.

Didn't take many pictures, and what I did take were pretty much of the KLR in front of things. I'll post one:
