Have you ridden one yet?
How much time do you spend looking at your bike vs. riding it?

Oh, I take it you've ridden an '08 and have made a fair evaluation.

Roger that!
I have a good friend who is the sales manager at the local Kawi dealership and they have had a demo.
It is not my style. to stiff, to low, to ugly, didn't notice any new power.
I am not slamming the bike but it ain't for me. I want a bike that will take true dual sport useage.
But, to each his own.

I really hated it at first in the pictures. But they had a bunch of them at Sears Point last weekend and they grew on me a little. The problem if you like it or hate it is figuring out how to protect it when you drop it. I just can't see a practical way to do it.

Say what you want. KLR riders typically don't even wash thier bikes so they don't seem very vain to me. Personally, the 08 looks ok.

I stopped at two dealers today and they have 07's but sell the 08's before they can put them on the floor.

You would think that Kawasaki put a chinese 2-stroke in the new 08's the way people are bashing it. Lets just enjoy the best bang for the buck bike made and quit the bashing. I will not be buying an 08, but they still have the fundamental features I like, even though they do have some points in the glossy brochures we can argue all day about.

If you want to complain, complain about the extreme false advertising of hte old scholl KLR glossies that weigh it in @337. Now that is a crock!!!

The people who bash have just as much right as the people who praise!

What makes either side more right? Nothing!

I have no use for that monster fairing. Just this weekend it would have gotten absolutely trashed. I was chuggin along on a 4 wheeler trail and misread a crusted over mud area. Sunk right in and stuck. The only way out was pull it to the right and up about 16 inches to dry surface. Faught it for an hour and half trying to drag it on it's side up the small slope until I got it out. The front side guard popped out, but never broke and took some new scratches, but none the worse. The 08' fairing would have been absolutely trashed, no question.

The difference between KLR.1 and the KLR.2 is that fairing will look terrible all beat up where the KLR.1 it just adds character. The off-road places that I have available all have trees and brush hanging over the trails. My current fairing takes a beating because of it, but it doesn't matter. The 08' is larger and wider and will take more hits no question. I just can't seeing that huge fairing looking acceptable all scratched and abused.

No, I don't stand around looking at my bike, I ride it. But, that doesn't mean I would enjoy seeing that nice pretty fairing all screwed up and having to look at it day after day.
