dual sport beginner

Hi out there. I think I have just found what I have been looking for in a new past time. I am currently looking for a KLR to use as a way to save time and fuel for work. I dig swimming pools and sometimes am stuck out late trying to finish the job. I thought if I carried a bike on the back of my work truck I could ride home and leave the equipment and ride back and load up and finish the dig. This has lead me to a dual sport bike and I had no idea what I was about to find! I have always been a backpacker(since I was 13 anyway) but I think that this dual sport thing is going to be awesome!!!
Thanks for looking, Pooldigger

Welcome to the forum, and the dual sport obsession is about to bite you hard.

2008 DL650 VStrom Yellow and Black
Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

The KLR will do what you are wanting it to do. But they do make smaller bikes if your just riding local that would be easier to load and unload. But if you are 25-100 miles away the KLR is the answer.

The KLR won't go everywhere you can hike, but it will get you close. Although I think there are some that can ride the KLR anywhere I can walk.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
