3 things I already don't like about the '08

1] The distance between the seat and pegs seems smaller/shorter than on previous years.

2] (& this may be repairable) I've got a strange vibration coming from somewhere at 3500 rpm. I don't know yet if it goes away above that because I'm still in the break in phase and can't rev it up too much.

3] It feels like it doesn't want to take slow, tight turns well. It feels like it wants to fall over towards the turn. I don't remember my '05 doing that.

Other than that it feels just like the old KLR.

1) Get some or make some peg re-locators, I think a guy on ADVrider was selling some. Or Drill some 3/8 flat stock to move them back and lower. (there's a picture floating around somewhere.(larryboy did it that way)

2) You forgot about all the vibes it has on break in.. wait till you can push it over 4,000. You remember to look for things coming loose.... right?

3) I just put some used stocker tires back on my bike (waiting for winter tires) And I know my head bearings are a lil loose too. My bike suprized me when it did that right in the drive way before I even made it to the road....
My guess it's... the stock tires. You'll get used to it soon enough and then change tires later anyway.

Thanks, Joe, when's your next tech day?

I don't really need to do anything to the bike (maybe highway pegs for my long legs), but it would be nice to see some old friends again.

I thought my steering was kind of weird at first, then I noticed the clutch cable was rubbing the fairing stay ... I re-routed it and it helped a lot. As for the diving, I was caught off guard, too, but after a few fast turns where I just let it drop in, it balanced out nicely. It just turns quicker and the tires being brand new feel the peak ... with 1000 miles I do not feel that anymore, but the handling is much better than the v1.0 KLR IMO.

Might want to check into the footpeg relocating brackets I'm making. I don't know if they would fit the '08, but I'd love to find out. If the V.1 footpeg brackets fit on the newer model, then it's a direct swap. It moves your foot about 1.25" lower than the stock bracket allows.
